Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Working on a team of 2, this person will take direction from the existing workorders to survey and identifying faults and damages on existing coax plant. This person will follow all safety protocols as well as customer procedures to complete the required repair. To complete this task this person will use the tools supplied by the company including access to programs to upload finish work order remotely. This person will review the task at hand and work site prior to starting work to ensure all required information is available and safety requirements are met to complete the task.

Responsibilities

    • Diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace or repair equipment
    • TDR cables
    • Repair or replace defective equipment
    • Locate underground cables
    • Analyze test results and adjust, change, modify amplifier manually or using software or test equipment
    • Sweep (level set) as-builts and report
    • Install communications equipment
    • Trouble shooting problem service cables
    • Excavate, backfill and compact earth using shovels and rakes
    • Use of hand tools
    • Install pipes by digging trenches using shovels and other tools
    • Operate small power tools (e.g. compaction jumping jacks, cut saws, air compressors etc.
    • Handle and distribute construction materials, loading and unloading vehicles with supplies, equipment, remove all debris from work sites
    • Setting up a safe work site
    • Driving truck to site
    • Will perform all other duties as instructed by department manager
    • Assist with possible training of new employees

Requirements

  • Experience working with Rogers RF Coax system

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Experience in the telecommunication field installing service drops

  • Able to read and interpret underground Telco designs is a plus

  • An understanding of underground utilities is a plus

  • Able to read and interpret utility locates is a plus

  • Clean Driver abstract

  • Criminal background check

  • Able to work flexible hours and weekends when required
