Fibre Splicer

Job Description

Working with all company crews this person will be responsible for the splicing, testing and troubleshooting of existing and newly installed fibre infrastructure. This person must be able to read and understand fibre design packages. Focus will be on FTTH projects and will involve splicing from the meet me point of existing infrastructure all the way through to the side of home. Will be responsible to work independently once given direction from project PM’s on where their resourcing is needed. This individual will help drive the team for success.

Responsibilities

    • Splice and test fiber cables on existing and newly installed plant
    • Installation of FOSC’s, FDH, Coyotes
    • Installation of LCPs, NAPs
    • Read and understand splicing packages
    • Accurately document all tasks performed for Asbuilts
    • Accurately document and report on daily progress
    • Maintain timelines and report and Risks
    • Able and willing to work on all applications – underground, aerial and internal
    • Use OTDR to trouble shoot and solution issues found in field
    • Maintain tools and equipment
    • Perform other tasks as required

Requirements

  • 3+ years Experience in similar role

  • Experience with fusion splicers and test equipment

  • Knowledge of all required splicing tools

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem skills

  • Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities

  • Valid Ontario “G” driver license

  • Clean Driver abstract

  • Criminal background check

  • Construction experience

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions·

  • Must be able and willing to work days, evenings & weekends to meet client timelines

  • Must be able to work on a ladder
